Changelog
User-facing changes since the rewrite began in January 2026.
October 2026
Two-factor authentication
Turn it on in Settings → Account, and signing in also asks for a code from your authenticator app, whether you use a password or Google or Microsoft. You get 10 one-time recovery codes in case you lose your phone. It’s optional and available on every plan, including Starter.
Signed-in devices
Settings → Account lists every browser signed in to your account and when each was last active. Sign out any one of them, or all but the one you’re using, and it takes effect immediately. Changing your password signs your other devices out too.
Send feedback
Report a bug, ask for a feature, or tell us anything else from “Send feedback” in the user menu. Ask for a reply and we’ll answer by email. Your links, notes, and names are never included.
Confirm it’s you
Before a sensitive change, such as creating an API key, Zeerka asks for your password, or emails you a code if you sign in with Google or Microsoft. Once you confirm, it won’t ask again for 10 minutes. Zeerka also emails you whenever your password changes.
Stronger passwords
A new password needs at least 12 characters and can’t be one that has appeared in a known data breach. A meter under the field shows how easy it is to guess as you type. Your end-to-end encryption passphrase gets the same meter.
A password for Google and Microsoft accounts
If you sign in with Google or Microsoft, you can add a password in Settings → Account and sign in with your email address too.
API keys that expire
When you create an API key, choose how long it lasts: 30, 90, or 365 days, or no expiry. Zeerka emails you a week before a key expires.

Encryption covers more
On an encrypted account, preview images, site icons, items in Trash, your profile photo, and your connected calendars are now encrypted too. Calendars are fetched by the Zeerka browser extension, straight from your calendar provider, so your events never reach us — which also means an encrypted account needs the extension to connect or refresh a calendar.
Alerts
A bell in the top bar tells you when someone shares a tab with you, accepts a tab you shared, or invites you to a Family or company plan. If you pay for a plan, it also warns you when a payment fails or when a trial or plan is about to end. Zeerka announcements appear there too, under “What’s new”.
Unsorted
Save a link without choosing a tab or group first. It waits in a tray at the top of your page until you drag it where it belongs. The browser extension and your phone’s share sheet now save to Unsorted by default.
Icons that keep working
Zeerka keeps a backup copy of each site’s icon and switches to it on any device where the original won’t load, such as an office intranet site you open from home. The Health widget now groups icon problems by site, so you can fix them all at once. An icon you choose yourself is never replaced by an automatic refresh.
Link checks
The Health widget’s Links tab finds the links you haven’t opened in 90 days and checks them when you ask. A check looks at the page itself, not just the site, so it can tell a missing page from a live one, and offers a fix for what it finds, such as switching a moved link to its new address. Checks run in your browser through the Zeerka extension.
Profile picture
Upload a photo in Settings → Account, or keep your Google photo if you signed up with Google. A small badge on it flags anything that needs your attention.
Choose your widgets
Settings → Widgets lets you hide the side-panel widgets you don’t use and drag the rest into the order you want, and choose how many links Most Used and Recent show. Hiding Most Used or Recent also stops it from tracking the links you open. You can also switch between light and dark mode straight from the top bar.
Hide a search engine on one device
Right-click or long-press a search chip to hide it on this browser only — keep your work search engines off your home computer, for example. Turning one off in Settings still removes it everywhere.
Pick a preview image
When a page has more than one image, such as a product gallery, click the preview in the browser extension to choose a different one before you save.
August 2026
Stellar Search and Stellar Sessions
Press a keyboard shortcut in any browser tab to search your Zeerka links with Stellar Search, or manage your sessions with Stellar Sessions, in a small pop-up window — without switching to Zeerka first.
Firefox and Edge extensions
The browser extension is now published in the Firefox Add-ons and Microsoft Edge Add-ons stores, alongside the Chrome Web Store, so you can install it where you already get your extensions.
Calendar widget
Connect a calendar via its ICS feed link and see your next upcoming events right in the side panel, merged across every calendar you connect with a color dot showing which one each event came from.
July 2026
Drag several links at once
Select multiple links and drag them to another group in one move.
Groups in Table view
Table view can list your groups as well as your links, which makes it easy to spot your favorites or groups with very few or very many links.
Favorite groups
Star the groups you save to most. They show up as one-click destinations when you save a page with the browser extension.
Better bookmark import
Imports from Chrome, Firefox, Edge, and Safari keep your folder structure more faithfully, spread groups evenly across columns, and tell you what was skipped. Export and import now carry preview images too.
June 2026
Link previews
Links can save a preview image, so your groups and columns are easier to scan at a glance instead of showing just an icon and a title.
Maximize a group
Expand a single group to fill the screen as a gallery of large preview images.
Link details on hover
Rest the pointer on a link to see its title, address, preview image, and date added, and to edit its note on the spot. Hold Shift to show it instantly.
Guides
Short step-by-step walkthroughs help new users set up their first tabs and groups, and point out features you haven’t tried yet.
Keyboard shortcuts
Switch tabs, activate widgets, and more from the keyboard. Tooltips show each shortcut, with the right keys on a Mac.
Recent searches
The search box remembers what you searched for recently, so you can run a search again in one click, or pick it up and change it first.
Reworked settings
Appearance changes now apply as you make them, and a new Spacing option makes your page more compact or more comfortable.
Direct links to a tab
Copy a link that opens Zeerka straight on a specific tab, for a bookmark or a browser home page.
May 2026
End-to-end encryption
Optional encryption, in your browser, for your links, notes, sessions, and group and tab names. Only your passphrase can unlock them, and it never reaches us.
Spanish and Ukrainian
Zeerka, its emails, and the browser extension are now available in Spanish and Ukrainian, alongside English, French, and Russian.
Bulk actions
Archive, delete, or move a whole selection at once. Draw a rectangle over empty space to select many links in one go.
Icon sizes
Choose small, medium, or large icons for your whole page, and fine-tune the size for individual groups.
Import straight from Chrome
The browser extension can import your Chrome bookmarks directly, with no export file needed.
REST API
Create personal API keys to read and change your tabs, groups, and links from your own scripts and tools.
Faster loading
Zeerka opens noticeably faster: your links arrive together with the page, and data that hasn’t changed isn’t downloaded again.
Delete your account
Delete your account and all of your data yourself, from Settings.
April 2026
Health widget
Scans your entire link collection and surfaces issues in one place — broken or missing icons, unreachable URLs, and more — organized for easy bulk action.
Notes widget
A personal notepad in the side panel that saves as you type and syncs across your devices.
Custom search providers
Pick which search engines show up as chips when you fire a query straight from the command bar.
Hide a tab
Hide a tab from your tab bar on one browser without archiving it. Bring it back any time.
Search in Archive
Search can include your archived links, so nothing you put away is out of reach.
“Already saved” in the extension
When you open the extension to save a page that is already in Zeerka, it tells you instead of adding a duplicate, and takes you straight to the copy you have.
March 2026
Tab sharing & publishing
Publish a tab as a public read-only page, or invite specific people to view or edit a tab with you.
Sessions
Save a whole set of open browser tabs as a named session, and reopen it with one click whenever you switch projects.
Table view
A dense, searchable, spreadsheet-style view of every link in a tab, for when a card grid isn’t the right tool.
Browser extension
A Chrome extension: save the page you’re on in one click, without leaving it, or capture every open tab as a named session.
Install as an app
Install Zeerka on your phone or computer like an app, using the same progressive web app (PWA) technology browsers build in. Once it is installed, Zeerka appears in your phone’s share sheet, so you can send a link to it from any app — where the browser supports it, which today means Chrome on Android and Samsung Internet on Samsung phones.
Sign in with Google or Microsoft
Use your existing Google or Microsoft account instead of creating a new password.
Family and Business plans
Share one subscription with up to five family members, or with your whole company, including named teams you can share a tab with in one click.
Trash
Deleted items stay in Trash for 30 days, so you can restore anything you removed by mistake. There is no “empty Trash” button, deliberately: the 30 days are what make a deletion safe to undo, and a button that skips them would undo that safety in one click.
Cut, copy, and paste
Select several links or groups and cut, copy, or paste them between groups and tabs.
Icon picker
Give your tabs and groups an icon from a library of thousands.
February 2026
Import & export
Import a bookmark file exported from any browser, or from the old Zeerka, and export back to that same standard HTML format — whenever you like.
Search as you type
Start typing anywhere on the page to search your link titles, addresses, and notes. No need to click a search box first.
Drag and drop
Reorder links, groups, and tabs, and move links between groups, by dragging them.
Side panel
A collapsible panel beside your links, starting with Most Used and Recent widgets that show the links you open most and last.
Archive
Put away links you want to keep but don’t need every day, and bring them back whenever you like.
Dark mode
Choose Light, Dark, or Auto to follow your system setting.
Conflict detection
If you edit the same thing on two devices at once, Zeerka asks you to reload instead of quietly overwriting your changes.
January 2026
The 2.0 rewrite begins
After seventeen years as a side project, Zeerka is being rebuilt from scratch. This month lays the foundations: accounts, and the tabs, groups, and links that everything else will be built on.
